Chemical modifications that activate proteins after translation.

Translational control

Regulation of the translation of mRNA into proteins.

Promoter

A region of DNA where RNA polymerase binds to initiate transcription.

Environmental change

Any alteration in the environment that can affect gene regulation within prokaryotes.

Aerobic environments

Environments that require oxygen for the metabolic processes of growth.

Metabolize

The process by which cells convert nutrients into energy.

Nutrient metabolism

The biochemical processes that convert food substances into energy and building blocks for biological molecules.
