10
New cards

Format

Grading

99% is exams

1% is syllabus quiz

15
New cards

Possible Grading

Research proposal-24% will put the exams 25% each (75% total)

Memory failure reflection-Re-evaluate lowest grade only the lowest grade. Lowest exam will re-weight to 28% without assignment 1, or to 20% with assignment 1

16
New cards

Exams

2 will be in class while the last one would be in exam week.

They are not cumulative, and content from earlier chapters will not be directly tested on later exams

17
New cards

Missed exams policy

If you cant make it to an exam, you need to notify the professor of your absence within 48 hours of the missed exam, you will receive a grade of zero.

18
New cards

Optional Assignments

Register the choice for the assignment by October 23, using the surgery on brightspace. It can be edited anytime before the end date.

There are no exceptions: if you do not opt in, or if you do not submit by the deadline, your assignments will not be graded

19
New cards

How optional assignments can affect grading

Memory failure assignment will only re-weight the lowest exam grade

20
New cards

An important note about optional assignment deadlines

The deadlines should be considered the latest possible time the professor will accept them. The professor will not accept any assignment submitted after 11:59 on their due date. The grade will be zero and the exams will be re-weighted to 33% each

21
New cards

Opt in but do not upload assignment

No penalty

22
New cards

Submit an assignment but it lowers the grade

If the grade is higher without it, the professor will default to the highest grade (optional assignment will be dropped if they do not boost the grade)

23
New cards

What if you forgot to opt-in but decide to want to submit an assignment

The professor will be checking the survey before grading, if not opt-in the assignment will not be graded. screen shot the survey after submitting it in case there are discrepancies between the survey and records of the professors end and what is submitted

24
New cards

How firm are the deadlines

Professor strict about deadlines. If work not submitted by deadline, it will NOT be graded, and there will be absolutely NO exceptions under any circumstances

25
New cards

Conduct

Phones need to be on silent, phone calls have to go outside. Laptops are allowed only school work. If there are other things no school related, you have to go outside. Phones and laptops are not allowed for exams unless needed for accessibility/accommodations

26
New cards

Academic Integrity

Cheating not allowed, see professor or TA for help. Same thing with help for citing.

27
New cards

Use of AI

Chat GPT is allowed but written work submitted needs to address the goal of the assignment, it contains reliable information with sound sources and is well-written with respect to clarity, format, organization of thoughts and transitions between ideas. Also declaration of AI use must be at the top of the paper. Failure to do so is a grade reduction because of academic dishonesty

28
New cards

The declaration of AI

During the preparation of this work (NAME TOOL/ SERVICE) was used to (REASON). After using this tool/service, the content was reviewed and edited as needed and I take full responsibility for the content of the written work
