What is superposition?
When two waves interact the resultant displacement is the vector sum of the individual displacements
What is coherence?
Two waves are coherent when they have a constant phase difference
What are the conditions for constructive interference?
0 degrees phase difference between the two waves which interact. Path difference is a multiple of the wavelength
What other degrees can phase difference be?
Any multiple of 360
What are the conditions for destructive interference?
Phase difference of 180 degrees (waves in antiphase). Path difference of (n+1/2) wavelength
