Mrs. Jackson: Honey, when your father met me, did he like me?
No!
Mrs. Jackson: Did he even find me remotely attractive?
Not in the slightest! I never kissed a girl in my life!
Mrs. Jackson: But what did I do?
What DID you do?
Mrs. Jackson: I walked right up to your father, third day of class, and I said to him, I said I like you
I like you a lot
Mrs. Jackson: And you’re going to like me
One day you’re going to marry me
Mrs. Jackson: And until then-
I will hunt you down
Mrs. Jackson: I will hunt you down
I will hunt you down, I will salt your fields, I will sack your city, I will steal your women and I will kill your men until I make you mine
Mrs. Jackson: Did I say that? Did I really say that?
That’s how I remember it. But this was back in seventh grade. Seventh grade: how about that for persistence, huh?
Julie: That is not a good story
I think it’s a great story
Mrs. Jackson: I tell it all the time. It’s a story about love!
Your mother’s variety anyway
Mrs. Jackson: The point is
The point IS…you’ve got to keep trying.
Mrs. Jackson: You’ve got to keep trying!
You’ve got to fling yourself headfirst and just say
Mrs. Jackson: I love you. I have always loved you, and if you don’t love me back, who knows what I will do?
-so to speak
Mrs. Jackson: Kevin Lee
Oh, Kevin! Kevin Kevlar! How is he?
Mrs. Jackson: He had a crush on me, you know
I didn’t know this. Did you tell me this?
Mrs. Jackson: Well that’s not very fair. Does that sound very fair?
Let Julie do it her own way
Julie: Dad, where’s mom?
She’s at work
Julie: Doing what?
What?
Julie: …she’s at work doing what?
Nothing. Nothing. I didn’t say anything. I said nothing. What did you think I was talking about?
Julie: I…don’t really know
What could your mother possibly be doing?!
Mrs. Jackson: My daughter gets the chair.
You know we’d do anything for you, right, Jules?
Julie: Yeah?
Just..keep that in mind, okay
Mrs. Jackson: Say it!
Just…keep that in mind, okay
Jessica: This is the high point in my life.
I get divorced. Meaning my wife divorces me. But I don’t mind! We still remain friends. I move to a condo fifteen minutes from Julie and see my daughter and her family all the time. That makes me happy.
