early period definition

• up to 9+ days early (based on regular cycle)

• cycle consistently under 28 days

• or cycles of 3 weeks or less for 2+ cycles.

Late period definitions

• cycle consistently longer than 35 days for 3+ cycles

Irregular Cycle definition

±7 days early or late for 3+ cycles

prolonged period definition

• bleeding for more than 7 days

• (duration problem not volume)

scanty period definition

• light flow or spotting only for 2 days or less. (under 20mL total)

• light bleeding consistently occuring mid—cyle (1-2days) between periods

Amenorrhea definition

• Primary: no period by age 16

• secondary : absense of periods for 6mo / 3 cycles after period established.
