Character Archetypes

Willing Hero

A hero who doesn’t hesitate when called into action and fits the ideal of someone heroic.

Unwilling Hero

A hero who doesn’t want to be the hero, but knows they have to for the purpose of the mission.

Cynical Anti Hero

A flawed hero that does not posses traditional heroic traits, but knows they need to save the world.

Tragic Anti-Hero

A type of anti-hero who makes a grave mistake that try and make up before often sacrificing themselves.

Group Oriented Hero

A group of individual heroes who have more success working with each other.

Loner Hero

A hero who prefers working alone either because they don’t trust people or are trying to protect others.

Catalyst Hero

A hero that serves as a mentor who can introduce the quest to the hero.

Herald/Harbinger

A character that initiates the quest and motivates the character to change.

Threshold Guardian

A character or obstacle that appears as a test for the hero to reach the next level. They are agents of transformation for the hero.

Shapeshifter

A character who tries to lure the hero to failure for their own ulterior motive.

Trickster

A chaotic form of the shapeshifter, but who doesn’t act on an ulterior motive.

Tyrant

A shadow who is extremely power hungry and evil and doesn’t feel any sympathy for anyone.

Bastard

A shadow who takes out his inner-frustrations on others.

Devil

A villain character who uses their charisma to lure people into their own downfall.

Traitor

Shadow who pretends to be good, but hides their evil side until they betray the people around them.

Outsider

A shadow who wants to have a sense of belonging and sacrifices others to get there.

Evil Genius

An intellectual genius who is the mastermind behind the entire evil plots.

Sadist

A human who naturally gets pleasure out of torturing people and being extremely violent overall.

Terrorist

A shadow who does not have a sense of justice and only looks at things based on his laws.
