Non Rotator Cuff Posterior Muscles
Trapezius, Levator Scapulae, Latissimus Dorsi, Rhomboideus Major, Rhomboideus Minor
Rotator Cuff Muscles
SITTS: Supraspinatus, Infraspinatus, Teres Minor, Teres Major, Subscapularis
Muscles of the Upper Arm Group
Triceps, Biceps Brachii, Coracobrachialis, Brachialis, Brachioradialis (technically on forearm)
Pectoralis Major
O: Medial Clavicle, Sternum, Costal cartilages of ribs 2-6 I: Lateral lip of Intertubercular Groove A: Flexes the shoulder, Adducts and Medially rotates the Humerus
Pectoralis Minor
O: Ribs 3-5 I: Coracoid Process of Scapula A: Pulls Scapula anteriorly; if Scapula is fixed, it Elevates the ribs.
Trapezius
O: Superior Nuchal Line, External Occipital Protuberance, Ligamentum Nuchae, Spinous Processes of C7 and all Thoracic Vertebrae I: Lateral Clavicle, Acromion Process, Spine of Scapula A: Adducts Scapula, Elevates and Rotates shoulder upward; if Scapula is fixed, draws head backward
Levator Scapulae
O: Transverse processes of upper four Cervical Vertebrae I: Upper Vertebral border of Scapula A: Elevates Scapula
Latissimus Dorsi
O: Lower Thoracic and Lumbar Vertebrae, Sacrum and Lumbodorsal Fascia (Thorocolumbar fascia/aponeurosis) I: Intertubercular groove A: Extends shoulder, Adducts and Medially rotates Humerus
Serratus Anterior
O: Anterior superior surface of first eight or nine ribs I: Anterior surface of vertebral border of scapula A: Holds Scapula to chest wall, rotates Scapula so shoulder moves upward
Rhomboideus Major
O: Spinous processes of second through fifth thoracic vertebrae I: Vertebral border of the scapula below base of spine A: Adducts Scapula, Rotates, Scapula so shoulder moves downward
Rhomboideus Minor
O: Spinous processes of C7 and T1 I: Vertebral border of Scapula at base of spine A: Adducts Scapula, Rotates Scapula so shoulder moves downward
Deltoid
O: Lateral Clavicle, Acromion process and spine of Scapula I: Deltoid Tuberosity A: Flexes and Extends shoulder, Abducts Humerus/shoulder
Supraspinatus
O: Supraspinous Fossa I: Greater Tubercle of Humerus - anterior aspect A: Abducts Humerus
Infraspinatus
O: Infraspinous Fossa I: Greater Tubercle of Humerus - posterior aspect A: Laterally Rotates Humerus
Subscapularis
O: Subscapular Fossa I: Lesser Tubercle of Humerus A: Adducts and Medially Rotates Humerus
Teres Minor
O: Axillary border of Scapula above Teres Major I: Greater Tubercle of Humerus - posterior aspect A: Laterally Rotates Humerus
Teres Major
O: Inferior Axillary = border of Scapula I: Medial lip of Intertubercular Groove A: Extends shoulder, adducts and medially rotates the humerus
Triceps
O: Below the Glenoid Fossa and Posterior Shaft of Humerus I: Olecranon Process of Ulna A: Extends shoulder and elbow
Biceps Brachii
O: Coracoid process and above the glenoid fossa I: Radial Tuberosity A: Flexes shoulder and elbow, supinates forearm and hand
Coracobrachialis
O: Coracoid process of Scapula I: Proximal Medial Humerus A: Flexes Shoulder and Adducts the Humerus
Brachialis
O: Distal anterior surface of Humerus I: Coronoid process of Ulna A: Flexes Elbow
Brachioradialis
O: Ridges superior to the Lateral Epicondyle of the Humerus I: Radial Styloid process A: Flexes elbow
