The "-oñ" Rule
The universal rule in Hindi stating that all plural oblique nouns, whether masculine or feminine, must end in the nasalised 'on' sound when followed by a postposition.
Postpositions (Hindi)
Grammatical words such as ko (को), mein (में), se (से), ka/ke/ki (का/के/की), and par (पर) that cause a preceding plural noun to change into its oblique form.
Masculine Plurals ending in 'e' (Oblique Rule)
Masculine plural nouns ending with 'e' change their ending to 'on' in the oblique form.
Ladkon
The plural oblique form of the masculine noun Ladke (boys).
Kamron
The plural oblique form of the masculine noun Kamre (rooms).
Masculine Plurals not ending in 'e' (Oblique Rule)
Masculine plural nouns not ending in 'e' form their oblique plurals by adding either 'on' (e.g., Ghar -> Gharon) or 'yon' (e.g., Aadmi -> Aadmiyon).
Gharon
The plural oblique form of the masculine noun Ghar (house/home).
Aadmiyon
The plural oblique form of the masculine noun Aadmi (man/men).
Feminine Plurals ending in 'iyan' (Oblique Rule)
Feminine plural nouns ending in 'iyan' change their ending to 'yon' in the oblique form.
Ladkiyon
The plural oblique form of the feminine noun Ladkiyan (girls).
