What is a storyboard?
Rough drawing used as a guide for animation
What is Squash and Stretch?
The way objects squish to create a sense of weight
What is anticipation?
Motion that prepares for the MAIN motion (the windup!)
What is timing and motion?
Timing is the duration of a motion, Motion is the way a subject moves.
What is straight ahead and pose to pose animation?
Straight ahead is drawing frames in order
Pose to pose is drawing key poses out of order, then filling in the in-between frames
What is follow-through and overlapping action?
Overlapping actions are elements that move when the subject moves.
Follow through refers to the way elements continue moving even after the subject stops (like hair and capes!)
What is slow in and slow out?
The way subjects gradually get faster and slower.
What are arcs?
Curved paths that subjects tend to follow.
What is secondary action?
Smaller actions that support a main action.
What is exaggeration?
Making actions and traits more extreme than they are in reality.
What is solid drawing?
Drawing objects to feel 3D.
What is appeal?
The likability and charm of a subject
What is staging?
The way subjects are positioned in a scene.
