s/s of intussusception

abrupt severe abd pain, draw knees to chest, vomiting, lethargy, weight loss, sausage shaped mass, currant jelly stool

diagnosis of intussusception

ultrasound will show a bullseye or target sign, air enema

treatment of intussusception

air enema→ push bowel into normal position, surgery

nursing care for intussusception

NG decompression, IV fluids, monitor stool for blood

what is hirschprungs

aganglionic megacolon, absence of neuron→ no peristalsis→ stool builds up

s/s of hirschprungs

ribbon like stool**, swollen belly, vomiting, constipation, delayed passage of meconium

treatment for hirschprungs

surgery, nutrition after surgery
