Three W's of sense of place
What (what is the place like?), Where (where is it located?), and Why (why is it important/special?).
Map projection
A way of showing Earth's curved surface on a flat map, which always results in some distortion.
Acronym BOLTSS
The required components of a map: Border, Orientation, Legend, Title, Scale, and Source.
Latitude
Latitude tells you how far north or south a place is from the Equator. It ranges from 0° to 90° North or South.

Longitude tells you how far east or west a place is from the Prime Meridian. It ranges from 0° to 180° East or West
Time zone adjustment rules
Moving east adds time (+time), while moving west subtracts time (−time); each time zone represents about 15o of longitude.
Standard coordinate order
Latitude is written first, followed by longitude (e.g., 43oN,79oW).
