Henry VI
The King of England who succeeded Henry V at 9 months old in August 1422 and became the only person ever to rule both England and France under the Treaty of Troyes.
Treaty of Troyes
The agreement under which Henry VI was declared King of France, making him the sole ruler of both England and France.
Regency Council
The governing group during Henry VI's minority, comprised of Bedford (governing France), Gloucester (governing England), and Cardinal Beaufort.
Duke of Bedford
A member of the regency council who governed France and maintained peace between Gloucester and Cardinal Beaufort until his death in 1435.
Duke of Gloucester
A member of the regency council who governed England and constantly clashed with Cardinal Beaufort.
Cardinal Beaufort
A powerful council member whose power struggles with the Duke of Gloucester created severe divisions at court.

Educational institutions founded by Henry VI in 1440 and 1441, respectively.
