What is calibration?
Comparing an instrument or sensor against a known reference standard to determine its accuracy and adjusting it when appropriate.
Why does calibration matter in commissioning?
Because you cannot confidently accept or reject equipment based on inaccurate measurements.
What measurements commonly require calibrated instruments?
Temperature, pressure, differential pressure, flow, humidity, electrical measurements, RPM, and other test data.
What should you check on a calibration certificate?
Instrument identification/serial number, calibration date, expiration/due date, measurement range, accuracy/tolerance, and traceability to the required standard.
What do "as-found" and "as-left" mean?
As-found: instrument accuracy before adjustment. As-left: instrument accuracy after calibration/adjustment. Always document both when required.
