Stop causative traumatic activity
Androgenic Alopecia
+ Family history
Gradual patterned loss
Men – bitemporal thinning of frontal areas, vertex thinning progressing to complete loss in those areas with hair spared in occiput and lower temporal areas
Women – diffuse hair thinning of vertex sparing the frontal hairline
Androgenic Alopecia- Treatment
Men & Women – topical minoxidil
Women – anti-andogenic medications
Continue treatment indefinitely otherwise hair loss will recur
Trichotillomania
Patchy alopecia – typically frontoparietal progressing back towards occiput
May involve eyebrows/eyelashes

Associated with physiologic or emotional stress
