Motion Diagram
A series of images showing the positions of a moving object across successive intervals of time.
Particle Model
A modified motion diagram where a series of single points replaces the object in motion.
Position
The separation between an object and the origin.
Position-Time Graph
A graph that plots the known position of an object at various points in time.
Vectors
Quantities that have both magnitude and direction.
Scalars
Quantities that represent size without direction.
Displacement
The change in position, calculated as \Delta d = d_f - d_i.
Average Velocity
The change in position divided by the time taken.
Average Speed
The total distance traveled divided by the time interval.
Acceleration
The change in velocity during measurable time intervals divided by the time interval.
Instantaneous Acceleration
The change in velocity at an exact instant in time.
Trajectory (Projectile Motion)
The path that a projectile follows through space.
Centripetal Acceleration
Acceleration directed toward the center of a circle for an object in uniform circular motion.
Pressure
The force on a surface divided by the area of that surface, measured in Pascals (Pa): P=AF.
Pascal's Principle
States that an applied pressure is transmitted undiminished throughout a fluid.
Archimedes' Principle
The physical law stating that the upward buoyant force exerted on an object immersed in a fluid is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object.
