What is the formula for Density?
density=mass÷volume (ρ=Vm)
what are the units for density
g/cm³ or kg/m³
What are a solids particle arrangement?
particles are closely packed in a regular arrangement and vibrate about fixed positions.
What are a liquids particle arrangement?
particles are closely packed in an irregular arrangement and move past each other.
What are a gases particle arrangement?
particles are far apart in a random arrangement and move rapidly in all directions.
What is Water Displacement?
A method used to determine the volume of an irregular solid by subtracting the initial water volume from the final water volume.
What is internal energy?
The total kinetic energy and potential energy of all particles within a substance.
What are the 5 Changes of State?
melting, freezing, boiling, condensation, and sublimation.
What is the cause of the Flat Sections on a graph when a substance is heated?
temperature remains constant because energy is being used to overcome forces between particles rather than increase their kinetic energy.
what does a graph when a gas is cooled show?
A graph showing temperature decreasing, flattening during condensation, decreasing again, and flattening during freezing if cooling continues.
What is the Specific Latent Heat formula
E=mL
what is specific heat latency
The energy required to change the state of 1kg of a substance without changing its temperature, given by the formula
What is Gas Pressure
The force exerted over an area produced when gas particles move randomly and collide with container walls.
What happens to the pressure of a sealed gas when it is heated?
Heating a sealed gas without changing volume, which increases gas pressure because particles gain kinetic energy and collide with the walls more frequently and with greater force.
What is the relationship between pressure and volume?
An inversely proportional relationship for a fixed mass of gas, where increasing volume causes pressure to decrease because particles collide with the walls less frequently.
What happens to the volume of an Helium Balloon when it is heated
The increase in the volume of a helium balloon that occurs when it is heated while pressure remains approximately constant.
