Al-Khafd (الخفض)
The kasrah (vowel mark) on the final letter of a word caused by a genitive governing agent (Amil of Jar), serving as a distinct sign that the word is a noun.
Al-Tanween (التنوين)
A sukoon-bearing (silent) 'nun' sound attached to the end of a noun, which appears in pronunciation during connected speech but does not appear in writing or when pausing (waqf).
