Pharynx
Also known as the throat - connects mouth and nose to trachea
Epiglottis
A flap of tissue that covers the trachea during swallowing to prevent food from entering the airway.
Larynx
Located between the pharynx and the trachea - also known as the voice box
Trachea
Tube that connects Larynx to Lungs
Bronchus/Bronchi
Largest tubes in the lungs

Bronchioles
Tubes that connect the Bronchi to Alveoli

Alveoli
Diffuse oxygen into the bloodstream and it binds to HEMAGLOBIN. Also diffuses CO2 out of the blood and into the lungs.

Respiratory System
The exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide via a group of organs and tissues.
Arteries
Thick walls - pump oxygenated blood away from the heart and to the body
Veins
Have one way valves - bring deoxygenated blood back to the heart.
Capillaries
Have thin walls and reach every cell. Purpose is to supply oxygen and nutrients to cells and to remove waste products.
Pathway of blood throughout the body
Lungs → Heart → Body → Heart → Lungs
Transportation of Oxygen and Co2
Oxygen and Carbon dioxide bind to Hemoglobin on the red blood cells.
Right Atrium
receives deoxygenated blood from the body via Vena Carvas
Right ventricle
Receives blood from the Right Atrium
Pulmonary Artery
Takes deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle to the lungs
Pulmonary Vein
Takes oxygenated blood from the lungs to the Left Atrium
Left Ventricle
Receives blood from the Left Atrium
Aorta
Takes oxygenated blood from the Left Ventricle to the body
Inferior and Superior Vena Carva
Takes Deoxygenated blood from the body back to the heart.
