What is density?
Mass per volume.
What is the SI unit of density?
kg/m3
What is the particle arrangement in a solid?
Particles closely packed, regular pattern.
What is the particle arrangement in a liquid?
Particles closely packed, irregular, no pattern.
What is the motion of particles in a liquid?
Move randomly over each other.
What is the motion of particles in a gas?
Move in random directions with random speeds but average speed is fast.
Why do solids usually have the highest density?
Particles closely packed in regular pattern so more particles packed into the same volume.
Why do gases usually have the lowest density?
Particles spread apart and not touching. Less particles packed into the same volume.
When reading from a measuring cylinder, what is a common error?
Parallax error from not reading at eye level.
What do repeat readings do?
Reduce the effect of random error
