What is a formulation
the combination of the active constituent and other ingredients that makes the pesticide into its usable physical form.
What is a Suspension
A mixture where solid particles are dispersed through a liquid but do not dissolve.
The particles may settle, so agitation may be needed.
What is an Solution
A mixture where a substance is completely dissolved in a liquid.
The dissolved material does not settle out.
What is an Emulsion
A mixture where tiny droplets of one liquid are dispersed through another liquid.
What is agitation?
Mixing the spray solution to keep particles or capsules evenly distributed in the water.
What is settling?
When suspended solid particles sink toward the bottom of the spray tank over time.
What is a concentrate?
A pesticide product containing a relatively high concentration of active constituent that is usually diluted before use.
What is dilution?
Adding water or another approved liquid to a pesticide product to reduce its concentration to the required application strength.
What is a carrier?
The material that carries or holds the active constituent in the formulation.
Examples: water, solvent, clay, granules or bait material.
What is a Diluent?
the liquid used to dilute the formulation before application
Example: water
What is the Formulation + the Diluent
The final tank mix — the prepared pesticide mixture ready for application.
What is the application method
where and how you apply the pesticide to the surface or pest. Such as spot treatment, direct treatment, cracks and crevices treatment
What is a ready-to-use formulation?
A pesticide product designed to be applied as supplied without dilution or mixing.
Examples can include some aerosols, baits, dusts and granules.
What is residue?
Pesticide material that remains on a surface after application.

Formulation SC
Suspension Concentrate
Formulation: Tiny solid pesticide particles suspended in a liquid.
Diluent: Water.
Final tank mix: Solid particles dispersed throughout the water but not dissolved → Suspension
Formulation CS
CS — Capsule Suspension
Formulation: Tiny pesticide-filled capsules suspended in a liquid.
Diluent: Water.
Final tank mix: Capsules dispersed throughout the water but not dissolved → Suspension
Formulation WP
WP — Wettable Powder
Formulation: Dry pesticide powder.
Diluent: Water.
Final tank mix: Powder particles disperse throughout the water but do not dissolve → Suspension
Formulation WG
WG — Water-Dispersible Granule
Formulation: Dry pesticide granules.
Diluent: Water.
Final tank mix: Granules break apart into fine particles that disperse but do not dissolve → Suspension
Formulation SG
SG — Water-Soluble Granule
Formulation: Dry soluble pesticide granules.
Diluent: Water.
Final tank mix: Granules dissolve completely in the water → Solution
Formulation SL
SL — Soluble Concentrate
Formulation: Liquid concentrate with the active constituent already dissolved.
Diluent: Water.
Final tank mix: Active constituent remains dissolved in the water → Solution
Formulation EC
EC — Emulsifiable Concentrate
Formulation: Liquid concentrate with the active constituent dissolved in a solvent.
Diluent: Water.
Final tank mix: Tiny liquid droplets disperse throughout the water → Emulsion
Formulation DP
DP — Dustable Powder / Dust
A DP is a fine dry powder.
It is applied directly and is not normally mixed with water.
Formulation GR
GR — Granule
Dry Solid granules
It is applied directly and is not normally mixed with water.
Formulation BA
BA — Bait
Food Matrix mixed with che
It is normally used as supplied.
Formulation AE
AE — Aerosol
An aerosol is a pesticide product supplied in a pressurised container.
It is applied directly as a fine spray or aerosol.
