Motor Abilities
Traits that establish achievement potentials for specific motor skills.each person have variety of motor abilites ex: throwing & catching
General Motor Ability Hypothesis
The hypothesis that many motor abilities are highly related and form a singular, global ability. "good at everything"
Specificity of Motor Ability Hypothesis
The hypothesis that many motor abilities are relatively independent in an individual. no relationship between abilites. (good at one thing does not mean good at another)
Reaction Time (RT) and Movement Time (MT)
Henry's experiments showed these two measures are uncorrelated, supporting the specificity hypothesis.
Static balance
stationary being still (standing, sitting, kneeling)
External Timing (anticipation)
Movement timing that is based on an external source. (hitting a baseball, starting a sprint)
Internal Timing
Movement timing based on persons knowldge. factors that determine when to react (depth perception, walk or jog at desired pace, dancer maining rythm without music)
Edwin Fleishman's Taxonomy
A taxonomy categorizing motor abilities into 11 perceptual-motor and 9 physical proficiency abilities.
Uses for Tests of Motor Abilities
Predicting performance, evaluation, finding deficiency causes, and assessing interventions.

ability
everyone has it. general trait. it stays with you.ex: balance
