Vocabulary flashcards defining the functions and differences between linkers and loaders, as well as syntax errors and logical errors in computer programming.
Linker
A program that combines object files and library files to create an executable file, resolves references between different program modules, and works after compilation/assembly.
Loader
A program that works after linking to load the executable file into main memory (RAM), allocate memory, prepare the program for execution, and start the program's execution.
Syntax Error
An error that occurs when the rules or grammar of the programming language are violated (e.g., missing a semicolon or a closing brace). It prevents the program from compiling until corrected and is usually detected by the compiler.
Logical Error
An error that occurs when a program contains incorrect logic or formulas (e.g., using addition instead of multiplication in a calculation). The program compiles and runs, but produces incorrect output and is usually detected by testing and checking the output.
