Eukaryotic membranes
3 main components of membranes :
Lipids
Proteins
Carbohydrates

Membrane proteins
Transporter proteins - can work in both directions, slow, reversible change, uses facilitated diffusion and active transport
Transmembrane transport proteins - extend across he entire phospholipid bilayer. 2 main types : Chanel proteins and carier proteins
Chanel proteins - substances move own their electrochemical gradient through the channel, no ATP
Carrier protein - bind to a specific substance which causes te protein to hanger shape and release the substance on te opposite side of the membrane
Proteins can also be receptors, enabling communication from outside to inside of a cell or organelle
