Simplest Form

Mixed Number

Common Denominator

A shared multiple of the denominators of two or more fractions, used to combine fractions with different denominators such as converting $\frac{3}{5}$ and $\frac{2}{6}$ to a common denominator of $30$.

Adding Fractions with Like Denominators

The method of adding the numerators together while keeping the shared denominator unchanged, as shown in $\frac{63}{15} + \frac{7}{15} = \frac{70}{15}$.

Adding Fractions with Unlike Denominators

The method of converting fractions into equivalent fractions with a matching common denominator before adding the numerators, as seen in $\frac{18}{30} + \frac{10}{30} = \frac{28}{30}$.
