What is the executive branch, and who is involved in it?

The part of the government responsible for putting laws into action, it can also propose laws. People involved include the prime minister who is the head of canada’s government, and the cabinet which are people with responsibility for different government departments and agencies.

the part of government that makes laws. The people include members or the House of Commons, and the Senate.

The part of government that interprets and applies the law by making legal judgements. The judicial branch is separate from the other two branches. The people involved includes the Supreme Court which are people who have the final word on all legal questions in the country. It also includes the provincial and lower courts.

Be elected head of a party, and then be elected member of parliament, and then your party has to win the most seats in the House of Commons to become the prime minister.

they have to be members of cabinet, and belong to the leading political party in power, PM chooses the cabinet ministers.

who is the best qualified, if they have an alliance to the party and party leader, and the pms personal opinion. They also look for a balance of gender, language, age of members, and ethnicity.

The Supreme Court of Canada is involved and there role is that they have the final word on all legal questions in the country, including questions about the rules for making and applying laws. They apply and interpret laws.

Acts as a check to the other branches. It interprets, and applies all law in Canada, including the rights of Canadians. Makes sure Canadians are repsected. The judges also have to come from a legal profession in order to become a judge like a lawyer.

Because it helps everyone be heard, not just the majority. This helps get a better vote for the whole country, and the whole group of people.

Makes sure the minority interest and right will be reflected in legislation, in the electoral process there is no guarantee that all minorities will be represented in the house of commons, insures all Canadians, including minorities are treated equitably. Among the minorities that member of the senate represent are those whose rights and interest are often overlooked.

How might making Canada’s government more accountable contribute to good government for all Canadians?

Decisions will be fair and unbiased because the process will be public and more transparent, govt spending can be monitored by the people because the information will be available to everyone, it is less likely that illegal or unethical activities will occur because govt must report on all their activities, much more information will be available about lobbying activities and lobbyists who seek to influence govt decisions.
