when respondent indicates agreement on scale of usually 5 ranging from strongly agree to disagree

describe rating scale

gets respondents to identify a value representing a strength of feeling in a topic (circling the number that applies to you on a scale)

describe fixed choice option

a list of possible options and respondents are required to indicate those that apply to them (tick box)

4 ways to write good questions

-clarity- if info is misinterpreted the results will be negatively impacted

-avoid overuse of jargon (technical terms only familiar to those within a specialised field)

-avoid leading questions and emotive lan-sometimes a researcher's attitude towards a particular topic is clear from the way in which a question is phrased

-avoid double barrelled questions and double negatives- respondents may agree to one half and not the other
