A voiced alveolar fricative consonant, as in "zoo" and "lose".

A voiceless palatal fricative consonant, as in "shoe" and "bash".

A voiceless glottal fricative consonant, as in "hat" and "hill".

/tʃ/ or /ʧ/

A voiceless palatal affricate consonant, as in "church" and "batch".

/dʒ/ or /ʤ/

A voiced palatal affricate consonant, as in "judge" and "badge".

/m/

A voiced bilabial nasal consonant, as in "moo" and "clam".

/n/

A voiced alveolar nasal consonant, as in "no" and "lone".

/ŋ/

A voiced velar nasal consonant, as in "ring" and "song".

/l/

A voiced alveolar (lateral) liquid consonant, as in "leaf" and "bill".

/r/

A voiced palatal (rhotic) liquid consonant, as in "rest" and "bear".

/w/

A voiced labiovelar glide consonant, as in "wind" and "wander".

/j/

A voiced palatal glide consonant, as in "yell" and "yolk".

Flap [ɾ]

An allophone that occurs in words like "ladder" and "bottle" when /t/ or /d/ occur after a stressed vowel and before an unstressed vowel.

Glottal Stop [ʔ]

An allophone occurring between vowels in some people's productions, such as between "uh" and "oh" in "uh-oh" and between "Ann" and "Elise" in "Ann Elise".
