Electricity must have…
a complete path to flow
What are some examples of conductors?
Metal, Water and Human Body
What should you do while checking your lights?
Tilt lock, Spot control, On/off switch, strain relief from cables
What cables do you use? A 18 or 16 gauge cable?
16 gauge cable ith 13 amps max, if you need a longer cable run use 12 or 14 gauge cable
Check cables for what?
Excess wear, frayed and exposed carrying parts
What should you do with faulty cables?
Throw away ungrounded cables and return faulty cables to the equipment room
What to do before plugging in cables?
Turn off, run connected cable to AC outlet and tape down to prevent tripping hazard
What cable do you use around water?
Ground Fault circuit interrupter ( GFCI)
What should cables not be close to?
Walls or flammable objects, heat sensors, sprinklers
What is Watts (W) ?
Measurement/ rate of electrical power
What is Amerage/ Amps (I) ?
Measurement of the current strength → NA = 15 amps
What is voltage (V)?
Measurement of Electrical Current that determines the electric potential different or the electrical pressure between 2 points
What is resistance?
The material’s tendency to resist flow of charge
What is the equation for finding wattage?
Watts = V x A “WAV”
What is the voltage for a normal household circuit in Canada/USA?
120 volts
What is the rated amperage of a common 120 volts household electric circuit?
15 amps
The total wattage of lights to plug into one circuit must be less than how many watts?
1800 w
