one that provides all people with timely access to quality healthcare based on their needs, not ability to pay, regardless of where they live in the country

provides access for all SES backgrounds to health services, telephone and video consultations to assist those living outside major cities

all australian citizens and permanent residents are entitled to subsidised medications, provides access to essential medicines for low income earners via concessional payments
access and NDIS
increases access to health services for all people with significant disabilities, rolled out in every region on australia to support those outside major cities
access and PHI
federal governments PHI rebate increases access to PHI for lower income earners, increase access to services that may otherwise be too expensive for members
what is an equal access health system?
one that takes the different healthcare needs of individuals into account so it is equitable and fair
equity and medicare
medicare safety net- people who require frequent services covered by medicare receive additional financial support, Mental health treatment plans provide those with mental health disorders 10 therapy sessions per year mostly covered by medicare
equity and PBS
PBS safety net protects individuals and families from large overall expenses for PBS listed medicines, concessional co-payment provides greater assistance to those who are on low incomes, aboriginal and torres strait Islander people can qualify for reduced PBS copayment amounts under the closing the gap initiative
equity and the NDIS
individualised plan ensures people with more significant needs receive more assistance, people who require NDIS do not have to pay more towards funding than those who don't
equity and PHI
people on lower incomes receive a higher rebate, people who use their PHI more often than others do not have to pay a higher premium
