Section View
A drawing representation that shows a view of an object as if it has been cut through at a particular plane.
Crosshatch
Lines used in section views to denote cut surfaces, often varying based on material.
Cutting Plane Line
A line that indicates where a section view slice occurs in a drawing.
Tolerance
The total permissible variation in size allowed in manufacturing a part.
Basic Size
The theoretical or design size from which limits of size are defined.
Limits of Size
The maximum and minimum allowable sizes for a part.
Limit Dimensioning
A method of specifying size by providing both maximum and minimum values.
Plus Minus Tolerance
A tolerance specification that allows a dimension to vary above and below a basic size.
Maximum Allowable Size
The highest size a part can be while still falling within specified tolerances.
Minimum Allowable Size
The smallest size a part can be while still falling within specified tolerances.
