What is the 3-term contingency represented by ABC in Applied Behavior Analysis?
Antecedent – Behavior – Consequence.
What is an abolishing operation?
An operation that can decrease reinforcer effectiveness, usually associated with satiation.
What is an establishing operation?
An operation that increases the current effectiveness of a stimulus, usually associated with deprivation.
What is the definition of acquisition in skill training?
A target that is in the process of being taught and is not yet a known skill.
What are antecedent interventions?
Recognizing environmental factors that can attribute to problematic behavior and making changes necessary to promote appropriate behavior and reduce possible triggers for maladaptive behavior.
What are the four components of Behavior Skills Training (BST)?
Instructions, model, rehearsal, and feedback.
What is the definition of behavior, and what are its four functions?
Behavior is anything a person does that can be observed and measured. Its four functions are Automatic/sensory, Escape, Attention, and Access (tangibles).
What are the three types of Differential Reinforcement (DRI, DRA, DRO)?
DRI (Incompatible) reinforces behavior incompatible with undesirable behavior; DRA (Alternative) reinforces an appropriate alternative replacement behavior; DRO (Other) reinforces any other behavior other than the undesirable behavior.
What are three examples of discontinuous measurement?
Partial interval recording, whole interval recording, and momentary time sampling.
What are four examples of continuous measurement?
Frequency, duration, rate, and per opportunity (or inter-response time and latency).
What are the five steps of the ECTER error correction procedure?
What does the acronym DISC stand for in relation to the principles of reinforcement?
Deprivation, Immediacy, Size, and Contingency.
What is the difference between a Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) and a Functional Analysis (FA)?
A Functional Analysis (FA) involves manipulating the environment to understand the behavior, whereas a Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) involves observation, interview, and collecting ABC data.
What is the receptive language prompt hierarchy from greatest to least intrusive?
Full physical, partial physical, model, gestural, independent.
What is the expressive language prompt hierarchy from greatest to least intrusive?
Full verbal, partial verbal, independent.
What is the difference between positive punishment and negative punishment?
Positive punishment presents a stimulus after a behavior occurs which decreases the behavior; negative punishment removes a stimulus after a behavior occurs which decreases the behavior.
What is an extinction burst?
The momentary increase in frequency and/or intensity/magnitude of problem behavior in the early stages of extinction.
What is spontaneous recovery?
The reappearance of the extinguished behavior after a period without reinforcing the behavior.
About how long should the inter-trial interval in Discrete Trial Training (DTT) last?
About 3–5 seconds.
"What's this" is a potential discriminative stimulus (Sd) for which verbal operant?
Tact.
What verbal operant is defined as requests for a specific item or activity motivated by a need?
Mand.
What are the four criteria for an operational definition of behavior?
Objectivity, clarity, completeness, environment.
What are the five types of preference assessments?
Free Operant, Single Stimulus, Paired Stimulus, Multiple Stimulus with Replacement (MSWR), and Multiple Stimulus without Replacement (MSWOR).
What are three key differences between Discrete Trial Training (DTT) and Natural Environment Teaching (NET)?
DTT is teacher initiated, uses predetermined reinforcers, and the teacher chooses the stimulus; NET is learner initiated, uses natural reinforcers, and the stimulus is in the natural environment.
What are three do's and three don'ts of the token system?
Do's: Reinforce immediately, reinforce according to the reinforcement schedule, pair praise with tokens. Don'ts: Reinforce later, remove tokens from the board, reinforce incorrect responses.
How often would you reinforce under the schedules VI-6, FR-2, VR-4, and FI-1?
VI-6: An average of 6 minutes; FR-2: Every 2 correct responses; VR-4: An average of 4 correct responses; FI-1: Every minute of work.
In session notes, what does MOO language stand for?
Measurable, Observable, and Objective.
What four items should be included in an RBT session note?
Transitions, maladaptive behaviors, whether you followed the BSP or POC when behaviors occurred, and how they did during DTT.

What three phases or phenomena of extinction are indicated by the callout boxes on this graph?
Extinction burst (spike in behavior when no longer reinforced), Extinction (reduction when reinforcement is withheld), and Spontaneous Recovery (reappearance after a period of being extinct).
Assuming Jake is on an FR3 schedule and working for gummies across seven trials (Verbal, Model, Independent, Independent, Partial Physical, Independent, Full physical), at which trial should he receive a gummy?
Trial 6, because it represents his third independent response.
What continuous measurement is calculated by occurrences divided by time to adjust for varying session lengths?
Rate.
The teacher said "point to desk," and 5 seconds later the client pointed to the desk. What term defines the 5 seconds that passed?
Latency.
Interviews and surveys are classified as what type of measurement?
Indirect measurement.
Every time Jayden asks for fruit, he receives fruit. What schedule of reinforcement is he on?
Continuous reinforcement (FR1).
A therapist denies access to outside due to rain; the child tantrums for 17 minutes; the therapist ignores the tantrum and redirects the child indoors. What is the ABC data?
Antecedent (A): Therapist denied access to outside; Behavior (B): Child tantrums for 17 minutes; Consequence (C): Therapist ignored behavior and redirected to playing inside.
What teaching technique occurs when a learner shows interest in an object and attempts to communicate a need, prompting the RBT's response as a communication partner?
Incidental teaching.
What is stimulus control transfer?
A process in which prompts are removed in order to bring the behavior under the control of the discriminative stimulus (Sd), achieved through prompt fading.
What is shaping?
The process of reinforcing gradual changes in a behavior so the behavior begins to look like the target behavior while no longer reinforcing previously accepted responses.
