disease + places

1) disease alters place perception (ebola). this may decrease tourism
2) disease alters place profile by changing it's demographics. due to population decline etc...
for example in the western lowlands in ethiopia life expectancy is lower
3) disease can affect politics. eg- UN brought cholera to haiti and there was conflict
4)economic status of country and ETM. LIDC work in agricultural jobs so are more like to contract zoonotic diseases
5)40% of health spendings on malaria in ethiopia restricts economic development

disease + coasts

1) spread of cholera in Bangladesh. Delta and distributaries are flooded due to high tide and evaporation of indian ocean which causes monsoon storm surge. 80% of country is a floodplain. leads to spread of waterborne diseases such as diarrhoea
2) diseases spread by boat- relocation diffusion. eg: spanish flu was spread by boat to india and USA in the 15th century
3) oceans and coastal areas act as barrier to disease as they restrict migration. this idea has diminished due to globalisation

disease + ELSS

1) water cycle and bangladesh. Evaporation=monsoon flooding. Delta is low lying so infiltration capacity is easily exceeded. melting of glaciers in the himalayas.1/8 wells were contaminated.2007
2) carbon and air quality. in china high emissions= lung cancer.
3) ethiopia. fresh stagnant pools of water
4) climate change= lyme disease increasing as ticks can breed. Anthrax

disease + Migration

1) migration leads to disease diffusion. H1N1 became pandemic. hierarchical international flights
2)china's net migration rate is -0.4 due to high levels of disease and poor healthcare. it is the largest emitter of greenhouse gases and has rising levels of premature deaths
3)global governance from the UN in haiti lead to spread of disease
4)screening at borders restricts travel.
5) long-term migration- small gene pooles and low resistance
6)refugees often suffer from malnutrition. EG- in South Sudan
7) migrating conditions for refugees lead to disease due to malnutrition and overcrowding
