Domain
The set of x values
Range
The set of y values
Relations
A set of ordered pairs.
Function
special type of relation where each element of the domain is paired with exactly one element of the range.
Explicit Equations
Any equation solved for a specific variable.
Implicit Equations
An equation that has not been solved for a variable.
Critical Points
Points where the graph changes its direction or shape.
Zeros (x-intercepts)
When it crosses the x-axis; y+0 (also called roots and solutions
Extrema
points where the graph changes direction.
Relative Maximum
A point with the greatest value compared to points around it.
Absolute Maximum
The point with the greatest value over the entire domain of the function
Relative Minimum
A point with the least value compared to points around it.
Absolute Minimum
The point with the least value over the entire domain of the function.
Jump
When there are no gaps in the domain
Increasing + Decreasing
In terms of X
Continuity
A graph is said to be this if there are no breaks of holes in the graph
Infinite Discontinuity
When F(x) increases or decreased infinitely as x approaches x = a from the left or the right.
Hole
When F(x) is continuous everywhere except for this at x = a
End Behavior
highlights the most left/right parts of the graph.
Line Symmetry
The graph can be folded along a line so that the two halves match.
Point Symmetry
The graph remains unchanged when rotates 180 degrees about a point
Even Function
it is symmetric with respect to the y-axis
Odd Function
is symmetric with respect to the origin
