No matter how far a career goes or how much money and material things are accumulated, it can all change in an instant. The satisfaction brought by these things is temporary.

There will always be someone who is "better." Someone will have a better house, more money, more followers, or a better job. Once greatness is achieved, it doesn't take long to realize there is someone better.

We cannot take possessions with us, and we know life is short. If we believe eternity awaits us, we have little time to impact the kingdom of God. In Ecclesiastes, King Solomon went to great lengths to show how the pleasures of the world are fleeting. Solomon had everything. He was the richest, wisest man on Earth, yet he saw that the pursuit of possessions and pleasure in this world was all in vain without God.
