The idea that power is concentrated among a small group of powerful people or organisations rather than being equally distributed
Promotional groups
Groups that seek to promote a particular cause or principle rather than directly benefiting a specific membership group
Insider groups
Have regular access to to government and are consulted by politicians when policies are being developed
