The six neurodevelopmental disorder categories
Intellectual development disorders, communication disorders, autism, spectrum disorder, ADHD, specific learning disorder, motor disorders
Deficits in language, speech and communication
Communication disorder
An intellectual disability is suspected, but the child is too young to be assessed
Global developmental delay
Onset is in childhood typically an early childhood characterized by development deficits that cause impairment and functioning
Neurodevelopmental disorder
Motor skills substantially below that expected given the person’s Age and opportunity for motor skills acquisition. Motor skills deficits Clumsiness, slowness and lack of accuracy that interfere with activities of daily living
Developmental coordination disorder
Persistent difficulty with speech production that interferes with intelligibility
Speech sound disorder
A sudden rapid recurrent, non-rhythmic movement Vocalization
Tic disorders
Persistent Deficits in social communication, social interaction, coupled with unusual movements use of objects or speech and/or insistence On sameness and/or a restricted and fixated interests, and/or Hypo-Reactivity or hyper reactivity
Autism spectrum disorder
Multiple motor tics and vocal tic or tics present for more than one year
Tourette’s disorder
Persistent difficulties with acquiring and using language across settings
Language disorder
Intention deficits and/or hyperactivity and impulsivity across settings that interfere with functioning
Attention -deficit/Hyperactivity disorder
Disturbance in the normal fluency and time patterning of speech
Child-onset fluency disorder
A motor tic or tics And a vocal tic or tics, But not both, present for a year
Persistent motor or vocal take disorder
Significant difficulties, learning and using academic skills and reading math and/or written expression
Specific learning disorder
Intellectual deficits (reasoning, learning judgment, problem-solving, etc.) An adaptive functioning deficits (Life skills/independent living skills) With an onset early in development
Intellectual disability
Persistent deficits and verbal and nonverbal communication
Social communication disorders
Deficits in motor skills Or repetitive and apparently purposeless motor behavior
Motor disorders
Repetitive and apparently purposeless motor behavior, such as hand, shaking, self biting and self Hitting it interferes with functioning and may result in self Injury
Stereotypic movement disorder
Single or multiple motor and/or vocal tics Present for less than one year
Provisional tic Disorder
Deficits in intellectual and adaptive functioning, typically involve an FSIQ of approximately 70 or below
