What does halide test include
Uses solution of silver nitrate, its soluble in water and it contains silver ion Ag+, and nitrate ion NO3-
What happens if we mix silver nitrate solution with solution containing halide ion
Silver ion reacts with the halide ion to form silver halide. Silver halide precipitate is formed, the colour of silver halide can be used to determine the halide ion we started with

What does reacting silver nitrate with chloride ion produce
White precipitate of silver chloride.
What does reacting silver nitrate with bromide ion produce
Cream precipitate of silver bromide.
What does reacting silver nitrate with iodide ion produce
Forms a pale yellow precipitate of silver iodide.
What will precipitate of silver chloride / bromide do in dilute aqueous ammonia
It will redissolve if its silver chloride
Precipitate of silver bromide will not redissolve.
Silver iodide does not redissolve in concentrated or dilute ammonia.
What will happen to silver bromide if concentrated aqueous ammonia is added
It will redissolve.
