Origin: Lateral tibial condyle and anterior fibula

Insertion: Middle and distal phalanges of toes 2-5

Action: Extends toes 2-5 dorsiflexes and everts foot

Muscle: Fibularis (Peroneus) longus

Origin: Head and upper lateral shaft of fibula

Insertion: Base of 1st metatarsal and medial cuneiform

Action: Plantar flexes and everts foot, supports arches

Muscle: Gastrocnemis

Origin: Medial and lateral condyles of femur

Insertion: Calcaneus via calcaneal (achilles) tendon

Action: Plantar flexes foot, flexes leg at knee

Muscle: Soleus

Origin: Posterior head of fibula and upper tibia (soleal line)

Insertion: Calcaneus via calcaneal (achilles) tendon

Action: Planter flexes foot (works when knee is bent or straight)

Muscle: Tibialis Anterior

Origin: Lateral condyle and upper lateral surface of tibia

Insertion: Medial cuneiform and base of 1rst metatarsol

Action: Dorsiflexes and inverts foot
