Epidemiological study

Epidemiological study is when ETHICS is concerned, and is unethical to control. Experimenter chooses 2 GROUPS of people who are alike in every other way than the independent variable. Variable doesn’t change, only seeking patterns and causes. Weakest data, used when it is unethical or impractical to do the other studies.

Difference between Alternative med. and Comple. Med.

Difference between Alternative med. and Comple. Med.

Complementary medicine is used together with common Western medical treatments (accupuncture). While Alternative medicine uses under-researched medical treatments (herbs, diets). I would trust compl. med. because it has more scientific evidence and I am more familiar with it’s treatments than I am with Alter. med.

.

When finding participants to partake it is not randomly selected, excluding certain groups (only including highschool students during recruitment, excluding people such as teachers). Can be avoided by dividing the participants in groups they are similar in (age & gender) and sample from each group.

I can agree that giving the pill to someone could result in a placebo or nocebo, but the pill WILL have an effect, since their brain will alter a reaction, the real mechanism is the belief and the expectations a person holds.
