Population
Group of organisms of the same species living in the same place at the same time
Population growth
What is the decrease or increase of population which changes over time because of births immigration deaths and emigration
Birth
Population increase when new individuals are born
Immigration
Population increase when organisms move into the population
Deaths or mortality
Population decreases when individuals die
Emigration
Population decreases when organisms leave population
Food water shelter space and mate
What are the five resources for living organisms to survive and reproduce
Carrying capacity
It is the maximum number of organisms that an ecosystem can support without damaging its resources depends on food water shelter and mates
Limiting factors
Conditions that restrict growth size
Density dependent factors and density independent factors
What are the two types of limiting factors
Density dependent factor
This type of limiting factor is where their effects become stronger as population size increases such as competitions diseases predation and parasitism
Density independent factors
This type of limiting factors is where it affects the populations regardless of their size example of these are typhoon drought flood earthquake and wildfire
