Purchase Commitment
A firm, binding agreement between a buyer and a seller to purchase a fixed quantity of goods at a predetermined future date and fixed price to minimize the risk of price fluctuations.
Gross Profit Method
An inventory estimation approach based on the assumption that the gross profit rate remains relatively stable from period to period, commonly used for interim reporting and estimating casualty losses.
Retail Inventory Method
An inventory estimation method for retail enterprises handling large numbers of rapidly changing items with similar margins, calculating ending inventory at selling price and converting it to cost using a cost ratio.
