Life Cycle
The process of an incredible transformation that frogs go through from egg to adult.
Egg
Stage 1 of the life cycle, which begins in the water where female frogs lay them in clusters.
Clusters
The groups in which frog eggs are usually found in the water.
Jelly-like substance
The material that protects frog eggs while they are in the water.
Embryos
The tiny organisms found inside frog eggs that represent the first step in creating a new frog.
Tadpole
Stage 2 of the life cycle where baby frogs have long tails, no legs, and look more like fish.
Gills
The organs tadpoles use to breathe in the water, similar to how fish do.
Froglet
Stage 3 of the life cycle where the organism develops legs and its tail begins to shrink.
Lungs
The organs froglets start learning to breathe through as they become less dependent on the water.
Adult Frog
Stage 4 of the life cycle when the tail is completely gone, legs are fully formed, and the frog is adapted for life on land.
Sticky tongues
Long appendages that allow frogs to catch insects quickly.
Sounds and calls
Unique vocalizations that frogs use to help them attract mates.
Leap
An action some frogs perform that can be up to 20 times their body length in a single jump.
Skin
An additional part of the body, besides the lungs, that frogs can use to breathe.
Transformation
The incredible change frogs experience as they grow from an egg into an adult.
