Latency
The delay that occurs when packets of data travel over the internet, measured in milliseconds (ms).
Latency Measurement
Measured by running a test called 'ping', with excellent times being in single digits and good ones under 50 ms.
Ping Rate
A term used to describe latency; reflects how quickly a response is received over the internet.
Online Gaming and Latency
Low latency is crucial for improved online gaming experiences.
Attenuation
Loss of signal strength that occurs when moving away from a wireless router, causing internet connection to slow down.
Interference
Unwanted signals or noise that degrade Wi-Fi signal quality, making it harder for devices to decode wireless data.
Wi-Fi Signal Blockers
Objects like walls, ceilings, trees, and vegetation that can reduce Wi-Fi signal strength.
Wireless Network Options
Various types of Wi-Fi standards supported by routers, including 802.11n, 802.11ac, and 802.11ax.
Wi-Fi Speed Claims
Speeds listed on routers represent the fastest possible maximums that may be achieved.
