必死
ひっし = desperate or frenzied, Ex: 必死で走った。= ひっし で はしった。= I ran desperately.
大切
たいせつ = important or precious {Kyoko’s brother describes her as 大切な妹 = precious little sister}
親切
しんせつ = kind or considerate
色々
いろいろ = various or diverse, Ex: 色々食べたい。= I want to eat various things/try lots of things. {Note: 色々 emphasizes variety over quantity}
不得意
ふとくい = (noun or na-adj.) = one’s weak spot, not good at or weak in, Ex: 私は料理が不得意です。= わたし は りょうり が ふとくい です。 = I’m not good at cooking.
快適
かいてき = comfortable or pleasant (from Shun’s podcast about bags), Ex: そのホテルは清潔で快適だった。= That hotel was clean and comfortable. (clean as in sanitary = 清潔= せいけつ)
便利
べんり = convenient or useful
清潔
せいけつ = clean or tidy, sanitary Ex: その部屋はとても清潔だった。= That room was very clean.
真剣
しんけん = serious or earnest, focused Ex: 彼は真剣に勉強している。= He is studying seriously. Ex: (from Terrace House, Momo and Rika say to Misaki: 真剣な話 = It was a serious conversation
前向き
まえむき = positive or forward-looking, optimistic
平和
へいわ = peace, tranquility, harmonious state (used by the Terrace House commentators to describe the vibe the week of Momo’s birthday)
変
へん = strange, unusual, or abnormal; used to describe something that deviates from the norm. Ex: 図書館に変な人来たんだよね = a weird person came into the library (says the librarian to her brother in “A Beautiful Life”)
残酷
ざんこく = cruel, brutal, or harsh (Kyoko’s mom says it’s 残酷 of her to tell Shuji the truth about the illness.)

かんぺき = perfect, flawless, or impeccable
華やか
はなやか = glamorous, dazzling, or brilliant
