Ethnicity

an identity with a group of people who share the cultural traditions of a particular homeland or hearth

Race

an identity with a group of people who are perceived to share a physiological trait such as skin color.

Nationality

an identity with a group of people who share legal attachment to a particular country

Ethnic Enclave

a place witha high concentration of an ethnic group that is distinct from those in the surronding area

Ethnoburb

A suburban area with a cluster of a particular ethnic population.

Blockbusting

A practice where real estate languages would encourage white homeowners to sell their houses for a low price and then sell the houses at the much higher amount to black homeowners deserpate to leave ghettos

Apartheid

The legal seperation of races into different geographic areas

Nation

a group of people in a certain area that are grouped together with common cultural characteristics

State

An area organized into a political unit and ruled by an established government. This area has a spatial extent, a permanent population, defined borders, a sovereign government, and recognition from other states.

Sovereignty

Independence from control of its international affairs from other states

Nation-State

A area where the borders of a national group’s homeland coincides with the borders of the state.

Multinational State

A country with several national groups within their borders

Multi-state nation

A National group’s homeland has a state of its own and also spreads across it’s borders into other countries

Stateless Nation

A national group that is spread out over several states

Autonomous Region

Defined area within a state that have high degree governments and freedom to govern themselves

Semi-Autonomous Region

Defined area with a state that has a moderate degree of self-government and freedom to govern themselves

Self-Determinism

People have a right to govern themselves. Often a nation or ethnicity that wants to have its own state

Imperialism

Forceful extension of a nation's authority by conquest or by establishing economic and political domination of other nations that aren't it's colonies.

Colonialism

An attempt by one country to establish settlements and to impose its political, economical, and cultural principles in another territory.
