Quantitative Lung Imaging
A technique to evaluate lung function and blood flow preoperatively.
Washout Phase
The phase in lung imaging where the patient exhales gas to observe lung clearance.
Equilibrium Phase
A step in lung ventilation imaging where the patient breathes evenly to achieve stable lung gas distribution.
Fainting
A sudden loss of consciousness; may indicate underlying health issues.
Three Phases of Lung Imaging Procedure
Flow Phase (for perfusion), 2. Equilibrium Phase (for ventilation), 3. Washout Phase (for clearance assessment).
Normal Ventilation Imaging Results
Shows uniform distribution of radiopharmaceutical throughout the lung fields, indicating adequate ventilation.
Abnormal Ventilation Imaging Results
May present as localized areas of decreased radiopharmaceutical uptake, indicating potential blockages or under-ventilated regions.
Patient Preparation for Lung Imaging
Includes informing the patient about the procedure, obtaining necessary consent, and ensuring fasting if required prior to imaging.
