Justice Lawrence Wargrave
A retired judge who was invited to the island by an old friend, Lady Constance Culmington. He faked his death with Dr. Armstrong's help via a staged shot to the forehead, and later killed himself by shooting himself in the head with a gun rigged on an elastic cord.
Vera Claythorne
A former governess working as a games mistress who was hired by Una Nancy Owen to serve as a secretary on the island. She hanged herself driven by guilt, hallucinations, and psychological trauma.
Captain Philip Lombard
A mercenary and soldier of fortune hired by Mr. Isaac Morris on behalf of an anonymous client to keep his eyes open. He was shot on the beach/cliff side by Vera Claythorne using his own revolver.
Emily Brent
A deeply religious, rigid sixty-five-year-old woman invited for a free vacation by someone claiming to be an old acquaintance ("U.N.O."). She died after being injected in the neck with cyanide via a hypodermic needle.
Dr. Edward George Armstrong
A Harley Street doctor hired for a large sum to discreetly check on the health of Mr. Owen's wife. He was pushed off a cliff into the sea by Wargrave and drowned.
William Henry Blore
A former police inspector turned private investigator hired to protect the host's jewels and monitor guests under the alias Mr. Davis. His head was crushed by a heavy marble clock shaped like a bear dropped from a window.
General John Gordon Macarthur
A retired World War I general invited to Soldier Island to chat and catch up with old army chums. He was struck on the back of the head with a heavy object while on the beach.
Anthony Marston
A handsome, wealthy, reckless young man invited by the Owens to join them on the island. He died after being poisoned by potassium cyanide slipped into his drink.
Thomas Rogers
The butler on Soldier Island hired through written correspondence by Mr. Owen to serve as staff. He was struck in the head with an axe while chopping wood.
Ethel Rogers
The cook, housekeeper, and pale, frightened wife of Thomas Rogers who was hired along with her husband via written correspondence as domestic staff. She died in her sleep after being lethally poisoned with chloral hydrate in her brandy.
Isaac Morris
A shady lawyer working for Justice Wargrave who arranged the transactions and purchases for Soldier Island on Wargrave's behalf. He was poisoned by Wargrave with a lethal pill before the guests left for the island.
