differnce between somatic NS and autonomic NS
SNS: one neuron to skeletal muscle
ANS: two nuerons to cardiac, smooth muscle, galnds, and fat cells
Sypathetic division
fight or flight response, increase in body productions
Parasympathetic
rest and digest, decrease in body productions but increase in digestion
Thoracolumbar divison
sympathetic, norepinephrine/epinephren, short preganglionic and long postganglionic
Pathways of pregnaglionic neurons
synpase with a postganglionic at the ganglion
synpase at a lower or higher gangliom
pass through without synpasing→ splanchnic nerves
destination of sympathetic ganglia
rejoin spinal nerves
symaptheic nerves, carotid plexus
spalnic nerves, form collateral ganglia
craniosacral division
parasympathetic, long preganglionic and short postganglionic, acetylcholine
cholinergic fibers
neurotransmitter: acetylcholine
muscraine receptors
recpetors on effector organ
nicotinic receptor
receptors on postganglionic neurons
adrenergic receptors
neurotransmitter: norepinephrine, found only in sympathetic post ganglionic neurons
a adrenergic receptors
contractions of everywhere but the heart
b adrenergic receptors
excitation of the heart
