RAM (Random Access Memory)
Holds all of the "active" information that the computer is using; serves as temporary data storage.
Hard Disk Drive
Permanent storage device used in a computer.
Optical Disc Drive (ODD)
A disk drive used to read or write data from optical discs (CD/DVD ROM).
Power Supply
Supplies power to the other components in a computer.
CMOS Battery
Stores date, time, and system configuration details.
SATA Cable
Cable used for connecting storage devices such as hard disks and optical disc drives in computers.
System Unit
The main body of a desktop computer.
Motherboard / System Board
The main circuit board inside your computer.
CPU / Processor
The "brain" of your computer.
Straight-Through Cable
A type of network connection cable used for connecting two or more computers using a switch or hub.
Class A IP Address
An IP range of 1-127.255.255.255 with a default gateway/subnet mask of 255.0.0.0.
Class B IP Address
An IP range of 128-191.255.255.255 with a default gateway/subnet mask of 255.255.0.0.
Class C IP Address
An IP range of 192-223.255.255.255 with a default gateway/subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.

Patch Panel
A mounted hardware assembly containing ports to connect and manage incoming and outgoing LAN cables.

Modular Box
A wall- or surface-mounted box used to house network keystone jacks for Ethernet connections.

Network Diagram
A schematic drawing showing the layout and connections between server, client, patch panel, hub, router, and wireless access point (WAP).
Organizational Unit (OU)
A subdivision within Active Directory into which users, groups, and computers can be placed (e.g., ICT DEPARTMENT).
Group Policy Object (GPO)
A feature in Windows Server used to manage user and computer settings across an Active Directory environment.
File Server Resource Manager
A management tool in Windows Server used to manage file screens, block specific file types, and configure folder redirection.
