DEMOCRATIC REGIMES
are systems of government in which power is vested in the people, who exercise that power directly or through elected representatives, characterized by free and fair elections, the rule of law, and protection of individual rights.

are systems of government where power is concentrated in one leader or a small elite, often maintained by the use of force, limited political pluralism, and suppression of political opposition.

A nation refers to a group of people who share common cultural identities
A state is a political entity with a defined territory and government. A nation may exist without a state, and a state may encompass multiple nations.

Concentrate all central power, and government gov makes most decisions
Federal system
Divide power between national and regional governments where regional governments have constitutionally protected powers
Liberalism vs liberalism
Liberalism emphasizes individual freedoms, democracy, and equality. but illiberalism is the opposite
